There are very few Christians. Everyone, except for a select few, claim the title of Christianity. Nearly all Americans claim that they are Christians, and those who don’t are ones that have either not thought about it enough to give it the time of day, or ones that have willingly made the conscious decision to disregard it.
America has bought into the biggest lie ever told. The God of the Bible, is not religious. Religion is created. Religion is something habitual. Religion is dangerous, and religion is poison.
Most people follow religion, and most people claim that it is Christianity. True Christianity is the exact opposite of religion. They claim something, and then give the very same thing that they claim, a different definition. In hindsight they claim something very different then what it is that they follow.
1. Religion teaches that there are two types of people.
I’m sure you’ve heard this before, from adults, friends, leaders, and more than likely other “Christians.”
There are good people, and there are bad people. You can’t hang out with the bad people, because if you do, you’ll look like, or become, one of them. The good people are separated from the bad people, by not doing “bad” things that only bad people do. The good people are the ones who do daily amount of good deeds, are deemed “good” in the sight of others, and stay close is morals, as well as churchgoing, don’t have tattoos, don’t drink, smoke, or have sex, and definitely don’t lie, cheat, or steal. Good people have it all together. Good people are good, and bad people are bad, and you’re either one or the other, and there only changing you need to do, is change from a bad person, and into a good one.
2. Religion cares about what you DO.
Religion creates a list of Do’s and Don’t’s that aren’t in the Bible. The good people accomplish the Do’s, and the bad people do the Don’t’s. Good people turn from good to bad when they start changing what it is that they do, and they no longer earn the title of being “good” people, but now they have shifted to bad. Religion cares about what you can accomplish, to “please” God, and to earn the love of God. Religion tells you to do more, do more, do more, succeed, accomplish, do, do, do, and THEN God will love you. And ONLY then.
3. Religion will never lead to joy, or humility. For anyone, ever. Here’s why.
Religion teaches that its about checking off the list of the “good” things that make you a good person. If you can do them, you’re a winner! And if you can’t, you’re doomed. If you can accomplish the good deeds, you think you’re better than everyone else for being a good person. If you’re honest, you realize that you’re a hypocrite, who can never match up to being a truly “good” person.
If you’re honest, Religion ends in this: “I have to do better to be a ‘good’ person. I have to do better when I fail, I have to try, try, try to be qualified.” Then when you fail, you feel like a hypocrite, who can’t even play by his own rules.
Religion is a lie. You want the truth? Here it is.
1. There are no good people. You’re not good, I’m not good, and we will never be “good” people.
Romans 3:10 - “As it is written: ‘There is no one righteous, not even one.’”
Religion, and every day America, may teach that there is one set of two types of people, but the Bible teaches that there is a different set of two types of people. Religion says that there are good and bad. The Bible disagrees. The Bible says, we are all bad! There are none that are righteous, not a single one. We’re ALL bad people, incapable of doing good in the sight of God.
Isaiah 64:6 - “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.”
The Bible says there are two types of people as well, just a different set. There are repentant people, and unrepentant. The end. There was only one truly good person, and that was Jesus. Jesus goes to the most jacked up people. The drunks, the prostitutes, the murderers, demon possessed, and the thieves. These are people that religion considers bad, bad people! People that “good” human beings don’t need to be hanging around! Jesus goes to them and says, you sin, repent, and you shall be saved.
He does the exact same to the religious leaders of the time. And what do the religious leaders say? They say Jesus is a “bad” person as well, and ultimately murder Him for being “one of the bad people.”
There are bad people who repent, and there are bad people who don’t repent. End of story.
2. Religion says its about what you DO or refrain from doing, and the Bible says it is about what Jesus has already done.
Ephesians 2:8 - “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no man can boast.”
Its not about what you do or don’t do, its only about what Jesus did for you, and living in light of that truth. The lie is that you have to do something for Jesus to love you. Religion says do this, do this, do this, while Jesus says, “I’ve already done it.”
There is nothing you can accomplish to save yourself. There is nothing you can do to make God love you. Jesus lived the life we could never live, died the death we deserved to die because of the life we lead now, and on the cross He uttered that “It is finished.” There is no good work you can do to be redeemed, because He did everything. It is by faith and faith alone, as a gift from God, that you are saved. NOT by what you can accomplish to make yourself look good.
3. Religion will never lead to true joy. Hope and reason for living for a God that died for you while you were messed up, will.
1 Peter 4:13 - “But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.”
Religion wont lead to joy. Religion either ends in pride, for being a “good” person, better than the rest, or depression, for not being good enough, for being a hypocrite, as well as a failure.
God is Holy. In all time of pain, confusion, sorrow, and brokenness, He is there. We are only capable of loving Him, because He loved us. There is nothing you can do to qualify yourself, when Jesus was the ultimate qualifier.
THIS leads to true joy. By knowing that when you were messed up, jacked up, dark, lonely, and reluctant, Jesus died for you in spite of all of that, because He loved you. Not because of something you did, a deed you accomplished, or because of one time when you sang a song in church or didn’t drink a beer. He died for you in spite of your sin, because of His love.
The blood of an innocent man was shed, not because of what He did, but because of what all of us have done. Trust in the fact that Jesus has already done everything for you to be redeemed, do so by putting your faith in Him, and then you shall be saved.
Dont buy into the garbage, and don’t believe a lie.The biggest downfall of “Christianity” today is that it is portrayed by hypocrites and liars, who don’t understand the gospel. The gospel is the story of God sending His Son to save a lost human race because He loves them, not how much money you can put into a bucket to have your sins forgiven. Put your faith in the cross, not in man. Put your faith in the justification of all through Jesus, not in your own personal justification.
my girlfriend just got a tumblr. Shes the best.
I’m always gonna love metal. But pop-punk is always gonna continue to blow me away. My love for metal is rooted in pop-punk, considering pop-punk is what got me into metal music. Well… more like Blink 182, which got me into music in the first place.
I just cant decide what I want to play. I like happy music. But I also love brutal music. Every time I write brutal music, I write something equally poppy.
I’m in a metal band. Which I couldn’t be happier in, but I have so many songs and ideas that are fully pop-punk, that I just don’t know what to do with. Intense pop-punk at that. I love intense music, and can’t seem to write anything that isn’t ridiculously in your face.
…I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
More than likely bad. I guess metal should be in your face anyways.
It may be beyond me, but since when on earth did the music scene in San Angelo turn into such a harsh freaking ground zero. It feels like there’s a war going on between all the musicians, each trying to prove why one is better, or “More brutal” than the next.
Listen, it may have been like this for years, but considering I’ve been apart of it since the beginning of the whole ‘resurgence,’ I haven’t noticed so much of this conflict until recently. And its not between any of the bands in town that consistently play shows. Its only between the group of people who try to form bands and are “In” bands, yet rarely salvage any music in the process.
I have nothing against “Scene Kids” except the fact that they don’t back up what they say. This isn’t all of them, but most of them are concerned about there friends knowing they are capable of being in a band, without actual having any music in any way shape or form. So whats the point of talking all the crap?
Long story short, the music scene in this town has been totally, completely based on friendship, and the fact that the mutual topic between everyone is the love of the music.
For many believers in the scene, the mutual affair is Jesus, and the worship of Him through the bands that use Him as reasoning for ministry. This is where the most encouragement comes from. But even then, since I’ve been playing and going to shows, I’ve been surprised by how many people are nothing less than absolutely encouraging regardless of beliefs. Its fantastic.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be a great band, or trying to be a little competitive at times. But causing drama and talking smack is just immature, and it makes you look like your band sucks, which is the complete opposite of what these people are trying to accomplish by talking all the mess.
Anyways, just some thoughts.
